2024 is a very special year for the Chevy Silverado HD, as several models make their debut on the heavy-duty lineup. The ZR2 trim may not be new to the pickup truck world, but it is new to Chevy’s HD lineup. The first-ever Silverado 2500 HD ZR2 models include a 1.5-inch suspension lift and 35-inch Mud Terrain tires to help this massive vehicle clear obstacles of different shapes and sizes. Complete with Multimatic DSSV dampers and a rear e-locker, the HD ZR2 is outfitted with newly designed skid plates, control arms, and wheel opening moldings with off-road mud guards. This specially curated selection of design elements turns the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD into a moving masterpiece. The truck’s black exterior body color is accented by a Black Ice grille bar and accents and 20-inch high-gloss black wheels– though 22-inch high-gloss black wheels are available. All details are black, from the skid plates to the hood vent, including the power-retractable assist steps, door handles, bumpers, and mirror caps. A Heavy Duty Truck for Heavy-Duty Capability

Each 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is equipped with a 6.6L V8 engine. The standard version of this engine is powered by gasoline and offers 401 hp and 464 lb-ft torque. The Duramax turbo-diesel version of this engine provides 470 hp and 975 lb-ft torque. With these engines, each Silverado 2500 HD model can trailer a significant amount, though the exact amount depends on the cab and bed configuration you select and whether the Max Trailering Package has been selected. However, to give a general range, most Silverado 2500 HD models can pull around 14,500 lbs via a standard hitch trailer, while fifth wheel or gooseneck hitches range from around 17,000 lbs to a segment-leading Crew Cab towing capacity of 22,070 lbs for drivers who select the turbo-diesel engine and Max Trailering Package together.

If you’ve never tried hauling a trailer with a larger truck, you might be surprised at how simple it is, thanks to the trailering technology provided by Chevy. Drivers can select from up to 14 potential camera views that provide views in, around, and through the trailer, as well as hitch and bed views that allow for a perfect clean hitch every time. The 2024 Silverado 2500 HD models offer Enhanced Transparent Trailer View for both conventional and fifth wheel or gooseneck hitches, providing drivers with a view of everything occurring around and behind the trailer.

Chevy has adapted the HD trucks’ driver assistance features like Blind Zone Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control to accommodate the length, height, and drag of a trailer, giving drivers as much information and assistance for staying safe during the long haul.

Cargo Capabilities
