Life just feels better and more fulfilling when you're behind the wheel of a powerful pickup. Choosing the best truck to improve your life, however, can feel like quite the challenge. How are you supposed to settle on one when they're all in intense competition with each other?

The truth is, there is a truck out there that is better than the rest. As a preferred Chevy Silverado 1500 dealer, we know firsthand how strong and capable the new 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 is and how owning it can change your life. Whether you have driven a Silverado in the past or if this is your first time buying one, there is a lot to learn about the 2024 lineup. GM makes numerous changes for the year, from the 2.7L High-Output I-4 engine wearing the freshly-created TurboMax name to Adaptive Cruise Control becoming standard on the High Country trim. There is even a new Blackout Appearance Package available for the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss, and ZR2 trims.

No matter which of the Silverado 1500's trim levels you choose, you will be getting a vehicle designed to last for hundreds of thousands of miles. Whether you are buying it for work, as a daily commuter, or to have some serious off-roading fun, the Silverado 1500 has a lot to offer. You can even rest assured that buying a used Silverado 1500 will last you for years to come—so buckle up and get to know the ultra-capable, ruggedly good-looking, and spunky off-roader known as the Chevy Silverado 1500.

The 2024 Silverado 1500

If you plan on buying a new pickup truck, the 2024 Silverado 1500 is worth taking out for a test drive. As already mentioned, there are many changes made to this lineup. In addition to the ones already mentioned, the ZR2 trim level can now be optionally ordered with a 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine. Two new exterior color options—Slate Gray Metallic and Lakeshore Blue Metallic—are now available. Also, the High Country can now be ordered in the Midnight Edition, which adds LED lighting and black power-retractable assist steps. Finally, you can get the 6.2L V8 engine with Sport mode and a dual Active Exhaust.

Wireless smartphone app integration comes standard via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, previously unavailable on the WT trim level. OnStar also now comes on the WT. Rounding out the list of changes is the inclusion of Front and Rear Park Assist in the optional Safety Package and WT Safety Package.

If you want the utmost utility from your truck's bed, the 2024 Silverado 1500 is a highly functional pick. It comes with 12 standard cargo tie-downs and the option of adding a power-up/down tailgate. Cargo volume blasts the competition out of the water with 89.1 cu.ft. of cargo space that you can use for hauling around all kinds of items.

If you want even more versatility from the bed, consider adding the Multi-Flex Tailgate. This tailgate offers six different configurations. First, there is the standard tailgate operation, which lowers to level with the bed floor. However, if you have a load that is longer than the cargo box, you can use the gate-mounted load stop to load and secure lengthier cargo, such as rebar and lumber. Should you need to get closer to the box, you can use the secondary gate for easier access. A full-width box step can help you get closer to the inner box and step up like you are climbing a set of stairs. The fold-up load stop on the secondary tailgate can be lowered to prevent cargo slippage, and there is even a work surface you can use when you need to study paperwork or use your laptop.

The 2024 Silverado 1500 can come with one of several different Chevy infotainment systems built into it. Standard for the LT trim level and higher is a 13.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also offers compatibility with Google Built-In. You can choose how you wish to connect, and there are enough USB ports to go around so that all occupants can charge their devices simultaneously.

The Silverado 1500 comes with a robust list of standard and optional safety features, including numerous advanced driver aids. Chevy Safety Assist is a bundle of standard advanced driver aids that comes on each trim level. In this suite, you get a Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights.

Towing capacities on the 2024 Silverado 1500 are substantial. Max trailering with the 2.7L engine in 2WD comes in at 9,500 lbs, while max payload sits at 2,260 lbs. The 5.3L V8's max trailering is 11,300 lbs, and the max payload is 2,180 lbs. If you opt for the 6.2L V8 engine with standard 4WD, your payload rating changes to 1,980 lbs and max trailering is 13,300 lbs. The max payload rating for the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel I-6 with 2WD tops out at 1,970 lbs, while that number only drops by 10 lbs on the 4WD model. Max trailering hits 13,300 lbs on the 2WD and 13,000 lbs even on the 4WD.

Here at Ruge's Chevrolet in Millbrook, we have a large selection of new and used Silverado models to choose from, including the Silverado 1500. You can take your pick from various configurations, engine options, and trim levels. Almost all of our new and used Chevy Silverado models come with the Ruge's Advantage Program, which includes a Lifetime Engine Warranty with every new vehicle on our lot. If you are buying a used vehicle from us, you do not have to pay anything extra to get a six-year/6,000-mile Powertrain Warranty. Why do we do this? It is our way of saying thank you for being a cherished customer and to welcome you to the always-expanding Ruge's family.

Our inventory of used vehicles is constantly changing, so if you do not see something you want or that is not quite in your price range, you should try back in a week or two. We work hard to ensure our inventory is just as diverse as our customers and meets their needs. Many of our used vehicles are Certified Pre-Owned, which means they are under six years old and have fewer than 75,000 miles on them, and these vehicles have to pass our rigorous inspection process. Buying one is more affordable than buying a brand-new model, so if financing is a concern for you, then think about finding a CPO Silverado 1500 in our inventory.

We even have some used vehicles for under $350 per month. These vehicles can vary more in terms of mileage, but they still have a lot of life left to live. There are plenty of options for you to choose from, so if you are not completely comfortable with getting a newer Silverado 1500, you might want to browse through these options and see which one stands out the most.

If that's the case, we can help you customize your Silverado order.
