2022 Silverado 1500
The 2022 Silverado 1500 is an exciting truck. Why is that? The 2022 Silverado 1500 received numerous changes, many of which built upon the best parts of its predecessors. Most notably, the 4.3L V6 engine from the 2021 Silverado 1500 is no longer available, and the turbocharged 2.7L I-4 engine was replaced with a high-output variant that provides incredible performance. Because of the change in base powertrains, the 2022 Silverado 1500 offers 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque standard instead of the 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque the base Silverado model output one year before. Because of the increase in power, the towing capacity in the base model Silverado has increased from 7,900 lbs to 9,500 lbs.
Another change in the 2022 Silverado is its turbo-diesel engine’s new 13,300 lb max towing capacity. The turbo-diesel engine in the 2022 Silverado outputs identical horsepower and torque to the 2021 model, but towing has substantially increased from its old 9,500 lb rating. The technology available in the 2022 Silverado has also seen a major update for the new model year. A seven-inch infotainment center still comes standard, just like last year, but the 2022 Silverado 1500 now offers a massive 13.4-inch infotainment center in the higher trims.
