Ruge’s Chevrolet Supports Wreaths Across America

December 19th, 2023 by

As we move into a season marked by celebration, it is, without a doubt, also an important time to reflect.

At Ruge’s Chevrolet, we are proud to represent a brand that takes pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms – and those who continue to put their lives on the line in service to our country.

For almost a decade, Chevrolet has supported Wreaths Across America, a program that reminds all of us to remember those who have fallen, to honor all veterans, and to ensure that younger generations can better understand what makes freedom possible.

Each year, thousands of wreaths are lovingly laid at Arlington National Cemetery – as well as cemeteries throughout Chevrolet communities from Maine down to Washington, DC. And Gold Star families, Veterans, and active duty military personnel and volunteers travel in donated, wrapped vehicles to the Wreaths Across America ceremony at Arlington each December.

There is so much beauty to this program – and part of that beauty is the fact that anyone can get involved! You can attend the annual event at Arlington in December. You can sponsor wreaths in honor of loved ones lost. You can sponsor a ceremony or explore the possibility of adding your local cemetery as a host site. You can download lessons from the Wreaths of America website to help enlighten and educate children. You can visit the mobile museum (which is currently traveling through the Northeast region). You can make a donation. You can explore the countless stories of those laid to rest that are published on the Wreaths of America website.

And, year-round – you can thank Veterans, their families, and reflect on the fallen.

Chevrolet’s commitment to the Wreaths of America cause allows us to do just that. It has resulted in the sponsorship of over 60,000 wreaths – and all of us at Ruge’s know that we’re really just getting started. According to Wreaths Across America, there are a total of 259,000 Veteran graves with less than 10,000 covered so far for 2023.

We hope you’ll help us work toward raising the awareness and funds to help make strides toward the good work of covering each of those sacred spaces with wreaths. And if you can make it to the main event, this year the Wreaths Across America placement at Arlington will begin at 8am on December 16th, with a ceremony scheduled that day at 12pm. Anyone who has been can tell you how deeply moving the experience is.

Whether it be through Wreaths Across America or one of the other programs designed to acknowledge and remember those who have served our country, may we all find ways to honor the legacy of those who sacrificed – and may we remember to thank those who currently do so today.
