Nate Quick, Sales & Leasing Consultant
It’s no surprise that Nate Quick has become a go-to for people from all over the region who want to purchase or lease a vehicle. Even over the phone, Nate’s warmth and positive energy are palpable, making any car-buying experience effortless and fun. He is one of those people who clearly loves his work – and we feel fortunate to have him as part of our team here at Ruge’s.
Nate is also someone who has made a choice to build his life in his home Hudson Valley. The FDR High School alumnus graduated from University of New Haven in 2018 with a degree in Business Management (where he also minored in Chinese and Economics), and reports that he is really happy to have a career opportunity not far from his childhood home in Staatsburg. Like many of our team members at Ruge’s, he is all about building long-term relationships with customers, colleagues, and his community – and those connections seem to come naturally for Nate.
When did you first discover an interest in cars?
At the age of 15, I was preparing to get my permit and knew I’d need a car. I actually bought my first vehicle before I could drive! It was a 5-speed with a V6 – and despite the fact that I thought it was pretty fast, looking back it was definitely really slow! But it was a ticket to independence, and as time went on I grew more and more interested in vehicles. I did work on several cars and I fell in love with the whole thing.
What inspired you to pursue this career path?
Definitely being in a role where my days are focused on interacting with people. In the past, I’ve never had a chance to work in a job where I get to meet new people every day, and that is what I enjoy the most about my work.
What was the training like for you?
There was a lot of online training, but also a great deal of hands-on learning through everyone in the showroom. People here are always really helpful.
What do you most love about working at Ruge’s?
I love the workplace culture/atmosphere. There is a very unique style of leadership at Ruge’s, where they set the stage by being so down-to-earth and personable and everyone feels it; this is a great place to come to work every day.
How do you spend your free time?
Doing car stuff! I also enjoy hanging out with friends.
Can you share a fun fact about you?
I was a volunteer firefighter for a while, which I don’t have time to do now – but I really liked working as part of that close-knit group at Roosevelt Fire Department and learning strategies to safely handle all kinds of situations.
If you could take a road trip anywhere, where would you go and what vehicle would you drive?
I’d go out to Southern California in a Corvette! I have only been there once with my parents. We spent a week there; stayed at Venice Beach and traveled down to San Diego. That part of the country is amazing and beautiful, and the weather is perfect. I’d love an opportunity to return.
Do you have any advice for a younger person who wants to follow this professional path?
I’m still at a very early stage of my career – but I guess I’d say always be ready to learn, and stay open-minded. Soak everything in!
